It’s a strange beast, but _Year Zero_ also shows that there’s still life to be

Cut hand surfing-lost vision, almost fainted. Blood/wounds/ pain don't scare me. what happened? Doc=cut vein..?

Was out surfing one afternoon, cut my hand and got out of the water. Showered off went to the car to patch up the wound and almost passed out. All i could see was white, luckily someone got a lifeguard for me. According to the lifeguard i had cut a vein and he recommended that i get stitches (which i did - total of 3). Didn't bleed much in my opinion, so why did i almost pass out? Anyone?

By the way im not squeamish, blood, pain, wounds never scare me. Had plenty of major cuts and none resulted in fainting. As a matter of fact i had over 20 stitches in the same hand/fingers and nothing like this...

If you get dizzy when doing any kind of exercise that increases Adrenaline (gee, think surfing qualifies?), you can usually trace it to low blood pressure. The cause could be one of any number of reasons if your pressure is normal most of the time,

The most common source is any kind of drug or herb you may be taking, whether over the counter or prescription. Have you recently started taking anything? If so, check the side effects. Things like anti-depressants, muscle relaxers, anti-inflammatories, pain meds, etc., most prescription drugs, unless they're specifically a stimulant, have a relaxing side effect that can lower pressure.

Cutting your hand would support that as well. If your pressure were low to begin with, and you had been in the water for a while exposed to sun and salt, and maybe a bit dehydrated, or even if you had a beer before going out to the wave line, any of those could lower your pressure enough to where a cut would put you over the line.

Analyze everything you've been taking and look for any commonalities that may have lowered your pressure.
