WashPost 2007-08 Coverage of Obama's Punahou School Years? Mostly Gooey Basketball Patter (News busters)
As The Washington Post publishes its "harrowing" story of Mitt Romney's
bullying of other children in 1965, conservatives might ask: How did the Post
cover Barack Obama's education at Punahou School in Honolulu in the last
election cycle? Did they track down horror stories from high school detractors
or classmates who belong to the Other Party?
As might be expected, a Nexis search of "Obama" and "Punahou" brings out
mostly laudatory references to his high school basketball career. The seven
stories in the sample have no critics of young Obama, but plenty of oozing
sympathy for his fatherless plight. Here are the headlines, to give you a
flavor:
1. **"A Rusty Toyota, a Mean Jump Shot, Good Ears"** (Outlook section
collection of positive quotes from friends and classmates, February 11, 2007)
2. **"The Ghost of a Father"** (December 14, 2007)
3. **"BARACK OBAMA WAS DRAWN TO BASKETBALL AS A KID, AND HE HAS
NEVER LET IT GO."** (same day, December 14, 2007)
4. **"For Obama, the Sport Is Much More Than a Game"** (Sports, April 16,
2008)
5. **"Though Obama Had to Leave to Find Himself, It Is Hawaii That Made His
Rise Possible."** (August 24, 2008)
6. **"Obama ...
Did I insult anyone here???
Question: Why are you against illegal aliens???
Details of Violation: and then you are against amnesty?? It makes no sense, since by granting amnesty to illegals, they'd turn into LEGALS and so would start paying TAXES and doing things the right way - in short, they wouldn't be criminals-, wouldn't they??? OK: Since Most of your RANTS are about the LEGAL status of these people... WOULD YOU HAVE A PROBLEM IF ILLEGALS FLOODED YOUR COUNTRY.....LEGALLY???? OR is it simply because you dislike people that does not meet your standards of class or race???

Rusty boy here doesn't seem to be able to read. HE should go back to school.

YOU GUYS SEEM TO CONFIRM MY THEORY: THE WHOLE POINT IS RACE. THANKS FOR BEING SO TRANSPARENT.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YAHOO! OR WITH THOSE WHO APPARENTLY REPORTED ME???
I think what the people who run this board are trying to do is keep it from turning into yet another post and repost shout match. I can appreciate this, though sometimes it doesn't work to my, or in this case, your benefit.
I've been on a lot of boards that pretty much devolved into sh?t slings, and I'm kind of happy that this one remains somewhat innocent because of its design and implementation.
There are lots of places we can go where we can have it out with other posters, for better or worse. I go straight to the Yahoo news boards when I want a good shot of vitriol.
Here I hang out and hopefully just exercise a more civil kind of discourse.
Incidentally, I pretty much agree with what you said in the reported post. It seems to me most of the ranting about illegals is just another form of racism. And classism.
